What makes ShadoMaxx different

01

AI scores your pronunciation, phoneme by phoneme

The latest AI scores your recordings at the word and phoneme level. You see exactly which sounds need work, so every session moves your English forward.

02

Words and phrases in the same lesson

Our in-house lessons are built from real scenes, frequent words, and phrases native speakers actually use — you pick up vocabulary while training listening and pronunciation.

03

Build lessons from your own scenarios

Tell the AI the situation you want to handle in English and it generates an original lesson for you — work, study abroad, anything. Practicing your own scenes keeps you motivated.

Method

Shadowing, the proven
method for English,
made efficient in an app

Shadowing is repeating English out loud as you hear it — a technique whose effect is well documented in second-language acquisition research.

ShadoMaxx walks you through five research-backed steps. It works for beginners through TOEIC 900+ learners.

STEP 01

Listen

First, listen without reading. It's fine if you don't catch everything. For shadowing, the right material is something you understand 70–80% by ear and 80–90% with the script.

STEP 02

Understand

Check the text and its translation, then use the phonetic notation to see how sounds change. Practicing with both meaning and sound in mind is what makes shadowing effective.

STEP 03

Expressions

Review the words and phrases from the passage. Lessons include the phrasal verbs, polysemous words, and set expressions native speakers use daily.

STEP 04

Overlapping

Record your voice over the model while reading the text. Your take is scored, showing phoneme by phoneme what worked and what did not.

STEP 05

Shadowing

Finally, shadowing: hide the text and record while chasing only the sounds you hear. Retake as often as you like — about 10 scored takes a day is a good pace.

STEP 1 Listen: play the audio without the script, with loop and 3-second skip controls and a 0/3 listen counter
STEP 2 Understand: the passage with phonetic notation above, translations below, linking arcs, and EN/JP, IPA, and marker toggles
STEP 3 Expressions: word cards for currency and headwinds and the phrase "eat into ~", sorted into knew / missed / new
STEP 4 Overlapping: recording over the model while reading, spoken sentences highlighted as they pass
STEP 5 Shadowing: the text is masked, record chasing only the sounds you hear, then send your best take to scoring

FEEDBACK

Phoneme-level scoring of your pronunciation

ShadoMaxx uses the latest AI to score the pronunciation of every shadowing take you record.

The heart of shadowing is the loop between pronunciation and listening: the more familiar your mouth is with a sound, the better your ears catch it. Seeing your gaps at the phoneme level makes each rep worth far more than reading aloud ever could. Scoring is available up to 300 times a month (about 10 a day).

WORDS & PHRASES

Words and phrases, learned in real context

ShadoMaxx lessons weave frequent TOEIC words and native phrases into natural context.

Knowing a word doesn't mean you catch it in speech. Phrasal verbs, multiple meanings, and collocations get in the way — if you've never met champion as a verb, you won't catch "Can you champion this?". Our lessons expose you to the living English that classrooms skip.

Detail screen for "We need someone at HQ to champion this." with intent, scene, an A/B dialogue example, and a note that champion is used as a verb in business English
STEP 3 Expressions screen: word cards for flat and concrete with notation, meaning, and usage, sorted into knew / missed / new, followed by the phrase "I see where you're coming from."

ORIGINAL

Original lessons from scenes you actually face

Presidential speeches are great material. But the scenes you need to speak in are probably different.

Shadowing famous speeches isn't wrong. But wouldn't you rather practice on your own field, in the situations you actually need to catch? Describe the scene in your own words and ShadoMaxx generates a script and audio matched to your level. When practice is personal, motivation follows.

Original-lesson creation screen: pick a scene such as travel, work, or daily life, describe the situation, choose monologue or dialogue and a model voice, then tap to generate scene ideas

PROGRESS

See the progress, so you keep going

"This is the year I fix my English" — how many times have you thought that?

If your studies keep fizzling out, you are not alone. What ShadoMaxx adds is accumulated data: every scored take and every piece of AI feedback builds up, so your growth and your conquered weak phonemes stay visible. Watching yourself improve is the strongest motivator there is.

Progress screen showing average scores for 16 vowels and 24 consonants as a heat map, with a diagnosis of fricatives that don't exist in Japanese
Progress screen with 161 practice days, 488 scored takes, 4,209 words spoken, a monthly practice-time bar chart, and a line chart of the total score rising from 69 to 85

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

I've never done shadowing. Can I still use this?+

Yes. Shadowing means repeating over a model voice as you hear it — and ShadoMaxx doesn't throw you straight in. Each lesson moves through five steps (listen, understand, expressions, overlapping, shadowing), so first-timers always know what to do next.

Is my English good enough for this app?+

Yes. You start with a 15-level placement check and get material that matches. The easiest track is ultra-short passages of one or two sentences, so there is no need to overreach. You can retake the check twice a month.

Is it useful for advanced learners?+

Yes. Every lesson ships with two audio tiers: a slow, clear read and a natural-speed casual one. If you know all the words but still miss lines in movies, shadowing the casual tier is where you grow.

How does the pronunciation scoring work?+

AI judges your recording phoneme by phoneme. Beyond the total score you get accuracy, fluency, completeness, and rhythm, whether you linked words together, and the phonemes with the most room to grow. You can score up to 300 takes a month — about 10 a day.

How is this different from human correction services?+

Turnaround. Human correction takes time to come back; ShadoMaxx scores the moment you stop recording, so you can retake immediately. Repeat until you are satisfied, without waiting on a reviewer.

How long should I practice each day?+

Fifteen minutes is the guideline. The practice unit is a 15–20 second passage, and a lesson of five passages is designed to be finished over about four days. There is deliberately no streak counter — skip a day and nothing resets.

Can I choose my own materials?+

Yes. Pick any lesson from the starter, daily-conversation, and business tracks. On days you can't decide, just follow Today's pick on the home screen. You can also have the AI build a personal lesson from a scene you describe (twice a month).

Do I need earphones?+

Yes, they are required. You record your voice while listening to the model; through speakers, the model bleeds into the microphone and scoring breaks down. A quiet room improves accuracy further.

What happens to my recordings?+

They are sent to the server for scoring, discarded as soon as scoring finishes, and kept only on your device. Only if you opt in are your first, best, and latest takes stored server-side so you can compare them after changing phones.

Which devices are supported?+

iPhone (iOS 26 or later). An Android version is open for pre-registration on Google Play. Lesson audio can be downloaded for offline listening, but scoring needs a connection.

Can I cancel anytime?+

Yes. Payment runs through the App Store, and you can cancel anytime from your iPhone settings. After canceling you keep full access until the end of the paid period. Account deletion is also available in-app.
